Some things you do for love — or coercion — or both. When JJ, Linda, and Jason came calling for a logo for a unique middle school in San Mateo, how could Jen ever say no? Now she’s on the hook for a mascot.

JJ Elliott is a “get things done” kind of gal and a writer Jen has often teamed up with over the past two decades. Inspired by her children, she saw the lack of well-rounded educational opportunities for middle school boys. So, she and two friends co-founded a school that offered “Irresistible learning for middle school boys.” She convinced professionals with major chops in progressive education to get on the bus. Field Middle was born to educate boys academically, socially, and emotionally. Fundamentally, it’s a school building toward a future where men understand that their greatest power comes from compassion, not control. When it was time for a logo, Jen pledged her allegiance and got to work on the assignment. We’re happy to report that the boys, community, and fundraising board gave it all an A+.
